Welcome and hello! I hope everyone is off to a great start so far this year! I can’t believe we are already in Mid February and I’m just NOW catching up with life. So far this year has been super crazy (thankfully). Okay, so not to waste any time I’m going to jump right into it, this year I have made the decision that I need to do WAY more with my life in all aspects (which I will discuss in future blog posts), but today I’m going to talk about one in particular. Just recently I made some moves that will help me pursue this new found passion of mine to HELP people get ahead financially, but more importantly to helping families plan better financially for their future. This new venture will run parallel with my photography business with the hopes that one day a few years down the road I can retire my photography business as a full time career and continue to pursue this business in the financial services industry as my full time career. As I pursue down this new venture I invite you to FOLLOW my journey, I have made a commitment to myself for at least the first year to DOCUMENT my experience right here on this blog through written word, videos and hopefully a podcast down the road. My vision is to document my real journey (the process) from getting my life insurance license along with all the ups and downs that I will encounter along the way, yes, even the downs that I will run into. It should be very interesting to say the least, but I’m definitely up for the challenge. I’m not going to claim I am an expert right now, as I am far from it, but I will certainly do my duty to provide the correct information using easy to understand terminology, but of course keeping in mind that some content can't be discussed due to certain compliance/rules that I will need to follow.

Being a full time photographer for the past 9 years, it’s time to start shifting my mind towards this new venture, this new mindset of helping families and building a solid team of like minded individuals to help grow our businesses will only be the beginning. This shift is not going to be easy, but just like anything challenging as long as I COMMIT and understand the process I am totally down to WORK my a$$ off.

So please, I invite you to follow ——> my journey. My hope is to bring value to you by sharing my experience so we all can grow and learn from each other. Please help me build a solid culture here! Feel free to comment anytime and engage along my journey via my blog or social media. I'm pretty chill and would love to help and answer any questions.

If you don't have time to follow the blog, PLEASE add your email address below and you will receive my posts automatically through your email.

Rowan turns one

I can't believe our baby girl on Feb 2nd turned one??? I'm actually in awe right now as I write this post. Looking back it's been such a cool year having her in our family, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, goofy, smart and soulful girl #blessed for sure. I can go on and on about our love for her, but I will leave that for future posts. So instead here are some pics taken throughout the day.

Ready for the new year

Most people make resolutions or goals come the new year, we get all excited for a fresh start. I think there is something cool about starting all over that gives us hope that things will be better this time around. Shoot I'm no different than most, I totally get excited for the new year and that chance to do great things. I have made my lists and now I'm all pumped and ready to take on the world, who's coming with me??? lol

This year one of the BIGGEST changes that I want to make is to be more present with my family, that means spend more quality time with them, do fun things and simply just create good memories for our kids. The big challenge is going to be the ability to put the iPhone down and just enjoy life that is in front of me, it's not going to be easy because 80% of my business is run on my iPhone from emails, calls and more important, marketing aka social media. BUT this is my goal and I pray that I can stick with it and make it good habit not only for me but for my family's benefit.

I'm not going to bore you with all the yada yada yada stuff that I want to do this year, but the other two big things I want to do is, run a Half Marathon and blog more, both personal and business. Running in a half marathon is nothing new to me, in my past life I did plenty of them and then some, but years later that has all changed, I'm overweight and lazy now, it's time get back on the horse as they say. And blogging....well I love the idea behind it, I love the fact that I can express myself, show my work and simply share what's on my mind. But the truth of the matter is that staying consistent is hard as heck. I give my sister HUGE HUGE props for blogging consistently each week for almost 2 years straight, to me that is an incredible task. For those that don't know, she writes a great blog about ways we can be more thoughtful it's pretty awesome, please check it out and follow along www.thoughtfulpinch.com .

So last year I implemented this personal blog in addition to my work blog, like maintaining one blog wasn't hard enough, lol. It was a little ambitious I know, I think last year I blogged 6 work posts and 7 personal posts, yikes I might have loved the idea, but got overwhelmed by it. This time around I have a game plan, I believe it has to start in my head, to believe that I can actually be a blogger and that I have something good to say, then it's just comes down to making it a habit, period. Hopefully I will get to the point of actually planning my posts so I can keep it consistent and less stressful. Like anything in life consistency can take you as far as you want to go.

So here's to quality family time, getting off my ass and running and getting back to writing and sharing. Here is a shot of my little girl.

End of year shoot with Colton

After doing some headshots for a friend yesterday, I decided to take some studio shots of Colton while everything was still already set up. So in true fashion my boy decided the prop he wanted to use was a bat AKA sword, last time it was his scooter. As I was editing these photos it dawned on me how special my little man is in our lives and HOW quickly he is changing and growing up.

So what I have decided I want to do from this year on is to have two planned photo sessions with each child to formally document their growth and changes. For Colton it will be on his Birthday (May 5) and at the end of the year (Dec). For Rowan it will be on her Birthday (Feb 2) then sometime in Sept/Oct, roughly about 6-7 months apart.

Take a look at this little man, he absolutely has my heart, he is kind, thoughtful, loving, crazy, FUNNY and a little over the top, we can do without the whining, but besides that we are VERY proud of this little guy. As of today, he is about 4.5 years old.

Rowan's Six Months Photos

I can't believe our baby girl is already a half year old? We call her our Angel baby because she is just amazingly awesome. She is so chill, like ALL the time. Now if she could just sleep through the night lol. Na, but in all seriousness, we love this little girl to pieces and we are just so blessed to have her in our lives. Here are a few shots from her 6 month photo session, taken only a week before she turned 7 months, hahaha.
